Skipping the WHM Setup Wizard on Automated cPanel Installs (and What to Set Instead)

WHM shows its first-login wizard until the marker file /etc/.whostmgrft exists. Automated builds can create that file, but only after they set what the wizard would have set: the server contact email and the nameservers in /etc/wwwacct.conf, a valid hostname, and the licence. Check every value in WHM afterwards, and test the whole build on a spare server before you use it for production.

How to Install cPanel & WHM Without Errors (AlmaLinux, CloudLinux, Ubuntu)

Start from a fresh, supported operating system (for example AlmaLinux 9), set a fully qualified hostname, update the system, then run the installer as root inside screen: cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://securedownloads.cpanel.net/latest && sh latest. When it finishes, open https://your-server-ip:2087 and complete the setup in WHM. Most install errors come from a server that is not fresh, a bad hostname, or too little disk space.

Apache “MaxClients exceeds ServerLimit”: Fix MaxRequestWorkers and ServerLimit on cPanel

The warning means Apache's worker limit (MaxRequestWorkers, called MaxClients before Apache 2.4) is set higher than ServerLimit allows, so Apache lowers it at start-up. On cPanel, change both values in WHM > Service Configuration > Apache Configuration > Global Configuration, not in httpd.conf. With the event or worker MPM, ServerLimit × ThreadsPerChild must be at least MaxRequestWorkers; with prefork, ServerLimit must be at least MaxRequestWorkers.

cPanel “sshd has failed, please contact the sysadmin”: Causes and Fixes

This alert comes from cPanel's service monitor (chkservd) when it cannot reach the SSH service. First check whether SSH really is down: systemctl status sshd. If it is stopped, test the configuration with sshd -t, fix the error it shows, and start it with /scripts/restartsrv_sshd. If SSH works but the alert continues, the monitor is probably checking the wrong port after a port change. Use your provider's console if you cannot log in at all.
