What “DMCA-free” means
What it does not mean
- It is not a guarantee. A provider can still receive complaints, and it can act on valid legal orders from the courts that have jurisdiction.
- It does not allow illegal content. Our Acceptable Use Policy prohibits spam, malware, phishing and illegal activity.
- It does not protect your copyright. Your rights exist whether or not your host is offshore. Hosting content you do not have the right to publish is still infringement.
Practical steps
- Host content you own or have a licence to publish.
- Read the provider’s complaint and copyright process, and the Terms of Service.
- Keep records of your content and licences, so you can answer a complaint quickly.
