Step 1: Download the CSF Package

Log in to your server via SSH and retrieve the package files using the following command:

wget https://download.configserver.com/csf.tgz

Step 2: Unpack the Archive

Extract the downloaded CSF package:

tar xfz csf.tgz

Step 3: Navigate to the CSF Directory

Move into the extracted CSF directory:

cd csf

Step 4: Run the Installer

Execute the installation script:

sh install.sh

Once installed, CSF will be in Test Mode by default.

Step 5: Disable CSF Testing Mode

To fully enable CSF, you need to disable Test Mode. Follow these steps:

  • Log in to WHM and go to ConfigServer Security & Firewall.
  • Open Firewall Configuration.
  • Change TESTING = "1" to TESTING = "0".
  • Click Save and restart CSF.

Managing IP Addresses in CSF

You can manually allow or block specific IP addresses using the following SSH commands:

Allow an IP Address

csf -a 136.1.1.105

Block an IP Address

csf -d 136.1.1.105
